Where are all my last-minute brides at? Because same.
My Fiancé and I are just a little over 2 months away from our civil ceremony and we have just now started planning it. Not to say we haven’t had ideas since we became engaged because we did we had a few, at one point we were going to do a double wedding with friends and then one day we thought about getting married in Vegas, we even were just going to do a Ceremony and then a party down the road, but we’ve finally settled on a day that works for both us and we’re so excited to have our friends and family join in on celebrating us on our big day.
But now that we’ve agreed on what we want our day to look like, it’s time to get planning. The overall theme we’ve been keeping in mind is sweet and simple. Which is why we settled on a civil ceremony and a chill after party in the evening.
The first step was to schedule our time with the Judge and secure our after-party venue, which we’ve done both of those things. Having those two things checked off our list has made us getting married so much more real and brings so much excitement to me.
Now that the venues are taken care of, we should probably find a photographer. We are getting our engagement photos taken this month and I think It’s likely I’ll have her take our wedding photos too. I think that’s how it typically goes when someone does a more traditional wedding so as long as we like her after engagement photos, and she is available I think that she’ll be our girl.
I’m sure with smaller weddings a text invitation or something less formal would be fine but I love nothing more than creating and also receiving invitations so I decided to go the more traditional route for our invitations and will be sending out physical ones. I’ve already created my template. All I need now is to get our engagement photos back and then I’ll be able to print them and ship them off to our friends and family.
The thing I am stressed out about the most and am procrastinating is dress shopping. Most of the dresses I’ve found are online but if you are someone who wears dresses or any women’s clothing then you know how awful it can be to try on online clothing. I’ve been told by a couple former brides to just give the bridal shop dress shopping a try and eventually I might cave but I also feel like a lot of them might not have the short and fun style wedding dress I am looking for or be able to create a dress in such notice. So, fingers crossed I’ll find a dress before the wedding otherwise I might be showing up in an all-white sweatsuit!
Of course, there are many other smaller details to sort out like the cake, a brunch spot, beauty appointments, accessories, and florals (if I decide to do them) as well but I’m not too worried about those as I’m confident these will be easy things to coordinate. Really, I’m just excited to marry my person and be surrounded by all our favorite people.
For those brides out there like me who decided to wait until the last minute to start coordinating your simple wedding, know that it’s all going to work out and whatever doesn’t work out will be okay because the whole point of this day is to celebrate your now husband or wife! For me what made it easier was to figure out the most important things I wanted to tackle and then anything else if I can do it great, if not then oh well.
